"Hitler's Childhood: A Psychoanalytic Perspective"
Honor's Lecture at Bergen Community College, April 13, 2000

Does man make history or does history make man? An age-old question, and when applied to monumental events - such as the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler in Germany during the last Century - can help us understand events of the past and predict future trends of humanity. Psychohistory weds psychology and history. It is the science of psychology that helps explain individual and group behavior, past and present. Discussions of psychohistory usually turn into debates on the role of the individual. Can one person significantly affect the course of history or not? As we all know, Adolf Hitler had a profound impact in shaping world history - past, present, and future.

The Bergen Community College Honor's Program will present "Hitler's Childhood: A Psychoanalytical Perspective," a lecture by Dr. David Beisel, nationally acclaimed psychohistorian from Rockland Community College, New York, on Thursday, April 13, room A-104 at 1:15 p.m., 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, N.J. The lecture is free of charge and open to the public.

The Bergen Community College Honor's program is available to students with a strong high school record or a minimum college grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.4.
