Margot Leverett and the Klezmer Mountain Boys, featuring Margot Leverett—one of the leading Klezmer clarinetists of her generation—together with four legends of Bluegrass music will perform on Sunday, May 21, at 3:00 p.m. in the Anna Maria Ciccone Theatre at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors (65+) and are available at 201-447-7428. Seating is reserved and advance ticket purchase is recommended.
Already established as a star of the Klezmer clarinet, Margot Leverett has joined forces with Kenny Kosek (fiddle), Barry Mitterhoff (mandolin and guitar), Joe Selly (guitar) and Marty Confurius (base) to form this genre-bridging, all-star group. The Bluegrass standards of Bill Monroe meet Klezmer melodies from pre-war Russia and Eastern Europe—some of which are newly discovered—and the results are extraordinary. Packed with emotion, the music can be raw, joyful, melancholic or ecstatic, but in the end, always exceptional. Margot Leverett & the Klezmer Mountain Boys are a revelation!
